NCBA and Inchcape Partner to Boost Mechanised Farming in Kenya

0

NCBA Group has entered a strategic partnership with Inchcape to accelerate mechanisation in Kenya’s agricultural sector, offering farmers up to 95% financing for ‘New Holland’ tractors.

The initiative aims to support sustainable, high-yield farming while addressing financial barriers that have historically limited modernisation.

Under the partnership, farmers can access flexible financing solutions, including seasonal repayment plans aligned with harvest cycles, a 60-day grace period, and up to KES 500,000 in additional working capital for operational needs.

The scheme also covers financing for up to two farm implements, such as ploughs, boom sprayers, or balers.

Agriculture contributes roughly 21% of Kenya’s GDP, yet the sector remains heavily reliant on manual labour.

This collaboration targets that challenge by making world-class mechanisation more accessible, helping farmers expand acreage, improve productivity, and reduce labour intensity.

Key features of the programme include:

  1. High-Leverage Financing: Up to 95% of tractor cost.
  2. Extended Tenure: Repayment periods of up to 60 months.
  3. Seasonal Repayment Flexibility: Plans matched to harvest cycles.
  4. 60-Day Grace Period: First instalment deferred to allow income generation from the tractor.
  5. Blended Finance: Collaboration with DFIs and NGOs to make credit affordable and sustainable.

Speaking at the launch, Lennox Mugambi, Group Director of NCBA Asset Finance and Business Solutions, said that today is about more than machinery; it is about empowering farmers to expand their acreage and strengthen their livelihoods.

By matching repayment schedules to farming realities and offering up to 95% financing, we are removing barriers that have historically held back the sector,” said Lennox.

Inchcape highlighted its support through a nationwide dealer network, factory-trained technicians, and access to genuine New Holland parts, ensuring long-term reliability and value for farmers.

All financed tractors will be covered under NCBA Bancassurance, providing asset protection throughout the financing period.

Farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses interested in the scheme are encouraged to contact their NCBA relationship managers, visit NCBA branches, or reach authorised Inchcape dealers.
